Log in… where?

Development 4 Comments

I’ve tweaked the layout of the login screen for the next version. It now looks like this:

Specifically, I added this menu:

Which may look something like this after typing:

So now you can choose where to log in. This is working on my testing server, but not yet live.

New Features

  • You can click on avatar names in the chat and IM history windows to open their profile. There is no visual indication of this, however.
Changes
  • Certain messages (e.g. SendAgentMoney) are now signed and checked to ensure that a potential attacker cannot perform malicious actions, even if they intercept your session data and impersonate you.
  • New constants in the 1.20 release candidate (TEXTURE_BLANK, TEXTURE_DEFAULT, TEXTURE_TRANSPARENT and TEXTURE_PLYWOOD) are highlighted by the syntax highlighter
  • Various code changes for clarity and efficiency.
Bug fixes
  • No longer affected by Linden Lab’s occasional accidental libsecondlife blocks.
This release was also going to feature improvements to modal dialogues, but this has been pushed back to 0.3.5 due to the need to get the blocking fix out (which wasn’t written until Linden Lab blocked it earlier today).

[COMPLETED] Update to 0.3.4

Downtime, Release 1 Comment

[17:30 GMT] Update complete. We’re back (and unblocked)! Please clear your browser cache and try again if you receive a message to the effect of “A C# exception was caught: array index out of bounds.”

[17:17 GMT] Final testing has passed. We’re now waiting for the deploy script to update the servers. We should, hopefully, be back up shortly. Release notes will be posted in a separate post.

AjaxLife is going down for an unscheduled update to 0.3.4. The version was going to be released in a week or so, but is going out now due to having the property of bypassing the libsl block currently in place. It was actually almost released last week, but failed final testing. Those bugs have been fixed now, so it’s just being released without a bugfix/enhancement that was planned.

We’ll be back as soon as possible!

[RESOLVED] AjaxLife blocked (again)

Downtime 6 Comments

[17:32] We have resolved this issue. Please clear your browser cache and retry if you receive a message to the effect of “A C# exception was caught: array index out of bounds.”

[UPDATE] See this post for information about the solution in progress.

Linden Lab have apparently blocked AjaxLife from accessing Second Life. Again. It appears to once again be a generic libsecondlife block (although certain programs - e.g. TestClient - are unaffected).

New release of AjaxLife!

New Features

  • Links in chat and IM are now clickable
    • secondlife:///sim/x/y/z and http://slurl.com/secondlife/sim/x/y/z format links will open the map at the given location instead of following the link.
  • Teleport trail - whenever you teleport, a message giving a link back appears in your chat history (like LL’s client)
  • Chat input scrolling - you can move up and down in the chat and IM input boxes using the up and down arrow keys to look through your previous messages
Bug fixes
  • Fixed issue #19: Estate Wide Messages go to Instant Message of the Sender.
  • Enabled localisation of two inventory labels
Changes
  • Improved IM session ID generation - moved from merging strings to XORing the UUIDs.
    • Backed out the ID coercion hack that prevented multiple tabs - this should stop it
    • Therefore the tabs that won’t stop flashing should be fixed too

AjaxLife 0.3.2 tomorrow

Release 19 Comments

AjaxLife is going to be updated to version 0.3.2. Here is a pair of screenshots demonstrating the added features:

List of groups I\'m in.

Conversation amongst the members of the AjaxLife test group

Here’s the new feature list:

  • Group list in the IM window
  • Group IMs work correctly - including joining, leaving, starting and conversing.
  • The position of the map beacon is shown on the minimap if applicable
  • You can now change inventory item permissions and descriptions via their properties (right click on the item and pick “Properties” from the menu.)
And a bugfix list:
  • Map textboxes now reflect what the map thinks you want to look at
  • Fixed: Issue 9: God Summon Does Not Work. [Lindens]
  • Fixed: Issue 11: No Group IMs, Group IMs go to Instant Message Tab.
  • Fixed: Issue 16: Hebrew in AjaxLife causes profile windows to have unneeded scroll-bars

Additionally, the following was fixed without fanfare in a minor patch to 0.3.1:

  • Issue 10: No Way to Scroll Down Friends List.
And the following changes were made:
  • The map now shows a waiting indicator when attempting to load data for unknown areas - it no longer shows popup messages.
  • The map will let you select blank areas, although teleporting to the, etc. will not work (obviously). These areas will be highlighted in blue instead of red.
I hope you like the changes/improvements/fixes!

Here are some more screenshots! :D

Going to add the ability to start your own group IMs tomorrow (hopefully), among other things. :)

AjaxLife Development Progress

Development No Comments

Coming soon, among other things:

Other changes so far include significantly improved behaviour of those text boxes on the map (they now reflect what the map thinks you want), marking of the map beacon on the minimap (as a red mark), and assorted refactoring. Wee!

Coming once I’m done adding stuffs. :P

Instant Message shortcut?

Feedback 8 Comments

Currently, AjaxLife uses the same shortcut as Second Life for instant messages - Ctrl-T. However, this is also used by most browsers to create a new tab, and is thus really annoying (I want a new tab, not an IM window!)

So, does anyone have any suggestions for alternate key bindings to use instead?
