iPhones

Release 43 Comments

AjaxLife is now available for the iPhone and iPod touch! It’s currently about where AjaxLife itself was just over a year or so ago - you can chat to people, IM those on your friend list (online or offline this time ’round), and receive IMs from arbitrary people. Thus far, there is no movement, no inventory, no money transfers, etc.

To use it, simply visit http://ajaxlife.net on your iPhone or iPod touch. You will be redirected to a secure “login proxy”, which is used because the iPhone could not reliably run the code to encrypt your login details. From there you will be redirected to the standard server.

AjaxLife 0.4.0.1 Release Notes

Release 12 Comments

New features

  • “Offline Friends” list to complement “Online Friends”
  • Following disconnection from the server, a more obvious dialog will be shown. Note that it’s not necessarily true - it might be a momentary blip.
  • Textures shown from inventory have a checked background behind them, which shows through transparencies.
  • Added a server-side ban list - I can ban you now. :p

Changes

  • Removed “Properties” from inventory context menu in Internet Explorer (it didn’t and won’t work)
  • Moved the “Online Friends” and “Groups” tabs into a new “Contacts” window. Instant Messages is now only visible when there are instant messaging sessions in progress.
  • Unsuccessful texture downloads are now shown as such, instead of waiting forever.
  • Server now uses libsecondlife 0.5

Bug fixes

  • Profiles load in Internet Explorer again.
  • When starting a group IM, proper notification is given when it is (or isn’t) created, instead of mostly hidden errors
  • Internet Explorer users can drag the Parcel Media window down without the drag aborting after twenty pixels.

This update will (should) appear automatically without your intervention. Please enjoy Linden Lab’s new splash screen, too.

AjaxLife 0.3.8 release notes

Release 2 Comments

New update without any downtime. And you don’t, in theory, have to clear your cache, either. Hurrah.

Anyway:

New features

  • Display of parcel title next to your position
  • Parcel media support
    • Two new buttons will appear when applicable in the toolbar, labelled “Music” and “Media”
    • These buttons will only appear if you have the QuickTime plugin installed
    • The “Media” button will show the parcel media - most often a video
    • The “Music” button will show a window in which you can play the parcel stream
    • Nothing will auto-play
    • Web pages are not supported
Changes
  • Added version number to static script URLs, avoiding the need to clear cache.
Known issues
  • If a video is playing, it will show through any windows above it. Workaround: don’t put any windows above the video. You can shrink the video to help
  • Videos will always open at the same initial size, although they will play at the correct aspect ratio. You can resize the video yourself.
  • Streaming audio may stop playing if the window is closed and then reopened. Solution: click elsewhere on the time bar thingy, and also make sure it’s actually playing.

AjaxLife 0.3.7 release notes

Release 8 Comments

Not much actually changed, but here you go:

New features

  • Option to disable notification sounds - checkbox at login, and keyboard shortcut (ctrl-shift-S) to toggle.
  • Keyboard shortcut (ctrl-shift-H) to teleport home
Changes
  • Updated German, Brazilian, Hebrew, Japanese and Dutch translations to include all phrases in 0.3.6.
  • Changed backend server start system to dramatically reduce effort required to release updates
  • Removed ability to hit “esc” to escape modal dialogues (sorry, no choice).
Bug fixes
  • Clicking “Instant Message” on one’s profile repeatedly would open multiple IM tabs, which didn’t actually work.
  • Conference IMs show “(hippos)” as the tab title. Note that replies are still impossible (but now marked as such)
  • Dialogues can’t be dismissed without the modal dialogue system being aware of it.
As an additional result of the changes made in 0.3.7, you shouldn’t have to clear your cache when 0.3.8 rolls around (due to the ease of server updates). But for now you do, so please clear your cache if you see a checkbox labelled “(loading)” on the login screen.

AjaxLife 0.3.5 release notes

Release 3 Comments

The 0.3.5 update has just been completed. Please clear your browser cache if you experience any issues.

New features

  • “Start Location” option on login screen lets you choose to log in at your last location, your home location, or an arbitrary sim (you’ll be placed at (128, 128, 20), and SLurl link format won’t work)
  • Support for the Callout Firefox notification add-on, if installed. Used as the Fluid growl support is now.
Changes
  • Altered the layout of the login screen - will now fit smaller screens without hiding buttons.
  • Estate messages appear in a modal dialogue
  • Updated to libsecondlife 0.4.1
  • Added TEXTURE_MEDIA constant to LSL highlighter

  • No longer runs out of memory on the Wii browser
  • The “Log in” button is not hidden on the Wii browser

AjaxLife 0.3.4 release notes

Release 14 Comments

New Features

  • You can click on avatar names in the chat and IM history windows to open their profile. There is no visual indication of this, however.
Changes
  • Certain messages (e.g. SendAgentMoney) are now signed and checked to ensure that a potential attacker cannot perform malicious actions, even if they intercept your session data and impersonate you.
  • New constants in the 1.20 release candidate (TEXTURE_BLANK, TEXTURE_DEFAULT, TEXTURE_TRANSPARENT and TEXTURE_PLYWOOD) are highlighted by the syntax highlighter
  • Various code changes for clarity and efficiency.
Bug fixes
  • No longer affected by Linden Lab’s occasional accidental libsecondlife blocks.
This release was also going to feature improvements to modal dialogues, but this has been pushed back to 0.3.5 due to the need to get the blocking fix out (which wasn’t written until Linden Lab blocked it earlier today).

[COMPLETED] Update to 0.3.4

Downtime, Release 1 Comment

[17:30 GMT] Update complete. We’re back (and unblocked)! Please clear your browser cache and try again if you receive a message to the effect of “A C# exception was caught: array index out of bounds.”

[17:17 GMT] Final testing has passed. We’re now waiting for the deploy script to update the servers. We should, hopefully, be back up shortly. Release notes will be posted in a separate post.

AjaxLife is going down for an unscheduled update to 0.3.4. The version was going to be released in a week or so, but is going out now due to having the property of bypassing the libsl block currently in place. It was actually almost released last week, but failed final testing. Those bugs have been fixed now, so it’s just being released without a bugfix/enhancement that was planned.

We’ll be back as soon as possible!

AjaxLife 0.3.3

Release 23 Comments

New release of AjaxLife!

New Features

  • Links in chat and IM are now clickable
    • secondlife:///sim/x/y/z and http://slurl.com/secondlife/sim/x/y/z format links will open the map at the given location instead of following the link.
  • Teleport trail - whenever you teleport, a message giving a link back appears in your chat history (like LL’s client)
  • Chat input scrolling - you can move up and down in the chat and IM input boxes using the up and down arrow keys to look through your previous messages
Bug fixes
  • Fixed issue #19: Estate Wide Messages go to Instant Message of the Sender.
  • Enabled localisation of two inventory labels
Changes
  • Improved IM session ID generation - moved from merging strings to XORing the UUIDs.
    • Backed out the ID coercion hack that prevented multiple tabs - this should stop it
    • Therefore the tabs that won’t stop flashing should be fixed too
