AjaxLife service restored

Downtime 33 Comments

AjaxLife is back again. In theory. I took the time to move the controller to a different server, so it may or may not all still work.

It’ll remain down in your own personal universes until your DNS servers get up to date. Until then, iPhone users can try https://89.16.177.17/iphone/ (which will work for a long time), and everyone else can try http://67.202.16.25/ (which will change frequently).

The signup issue is not actually resolved, so please continue to vote for VWR-734.

    Thanks! I’ve missed AjaxLife.
Why the hell is it taking them so long to update what one would assume to be an important problem?

I am always able to log into SL (using PC) via movablelife.net (when SL is up), but not always with ajaxlife.net. Today I have been unsuccessful in logging in using ajaxlife.net. Earlier today it appeared that I logged in, but none of my contacts…on or offline…were listed, and now I am getting the “…something went wrong…” error message about 5 seconds after I attempt to log in.

I, too, get the “…can’t access SL from this computer message…” occasionally.

Has anyone got any news on Ajaxlife?

It was working yesterday but today I get this message: Sorry, it seems AjaxLife is currently down. Check back in a few minutes – we should have recovered by then!

Basically my broadband has died and the only way I can access SL to run my SL club while the ISP are taking an age to resolve it is via ajaxlife from internet cafes, which has been doing a grand job so far :-)

Ajaxlife is officially saving my sanity and yes I know that is sad.

By the way, I am sure this has been said before but you do a great job keeping it going.

    Many thanks, Josephina

The iPhone user’s page has been offline for some time now, I’m an experience coder in C#, C++, and PHP. I would be glad enough to help you with your problems, I’m not very advanced in Objective-C but I am learning, I’m currently creating my own client named “Alpha World”, not running on open simulator software! :P

    Hosting offer

Hi Kathy, I really support your development of this project. I own a very small hosting company and would like to offer you space on my server for free. It might help you speed up the process of development since you would not have to worry about hosting fees anymore ;) If you are interested in this, contact me any time!
    Good luck,

    Epos

I tried for the first time today to log in to SL through the Ajaxlife.net web site and repeatedly recieved a password error, is there something that I am missing so obvious that it might have bitten me if I walked next to it? I know that I used the proper First/Last Name and password for my avitar. What am I missing?

While I’m here I’ll take this opportunity to thank Kat for her amazing hard work in creating this client. I really appreciate it.

Anyone else getting ‘The network link was interrupted while negotiating a connection. Please try again’? I’ve been getting it for almost 2 days. Any help would be appreciated.

yes Ambre, it appears that ajaxlife.net is down. Sadly I am having the same problem.

  25. Katharine Berry Says:

Apologies; a hard drive failure on the AjaxLife control server a few days ago resulted in it being rebooted for the first time ever, exposing an error in its networking setup that results in the machine being unaware that ajaxlife.net’s IP address is assigned to it. In the meantime, try this link, which should suffice until I can resolve the issue. You have my apologies.

  26. Katharine Berry Says:
    April 17th, 2009 at 8:04 pm

ajaxlife.net should now resolve correctly, as before.

The Error: “The session ‘b112e534-b6be-44ff-9237-bb6b05431b80′ does not exist. Try reloading the page.” sometimes appears when I try to log in. I try reloading the page, both by using the “reload current page” icon, or typing in ajaxlife.net in the address bar. I tried clearing the browser cache also, and I still get this message repeatedly. It usually goes away after 5 minutes or so. I’m wondering what is causing this.

  28. Paula Says:
    April 28th, 2009 at 8:23 pm

Bye the way, Katherine, thank you very much for ajaxlife.net. It saves me from insanity at work!

  29. Katharine Berry Says:
    April 28th, 2009 at 8:26 pm

You’re probably behind a caching proxy that’s caching the page, including the session ID (your hostname when posting on this blog, which includes the word “proxy”, supports this theory).

When I get the chance I’ll look into sending aggressive headers telling it not to, if I’m not already.

  30. Paula Says:
    May 19th, 2009 at 6:19 pm

I’m still getting the session does not exist error if I log out (or my server gets disconnected) of SL on ajaxlife.net and try to log back in.
