AjaxLife 0.4.0.1 Release Notes

Release

New features

  • “Offline Friends” list to complement “Online Friends”
  • Following disconnection from the server, a more obvious dialog will be shown. Note that it’s not necessarily true - it might be a momentary blip.
  • Textures shown from inventory have a checked background behind them, which shows through transparencies.
  • Added a server-side ban list - I can ban you now. :p

Changes

  • Removed “Properties” from inventory context menu in Internet Explorer (it didn’t and won’t work)
  • Moved the “Online Friends” and “Groups” tabs into a new “Contacts” window. Instant Messages is now only visible when there are instant messaging sessions in progress.
  • Unsuccessful texture downloads are now shown as such, instead of waiting forever.
  • Server now uses libsecondlife 0.5

Bug fixes

  • Profiles load in Internet Explorer again.
  • When starting a group IM, proper notification is given when it is (or isn’t) created, instead of mostly hidden errors
  • Internet Explorer users can drag the Parcel Media window down without the drag aborting after twenty pixels.

This update will (should) appear automatically without your intervention. Please enjoy Linden Lab’s new splash screen, too.

wonderful new features! Any chance of getting the ability to post notices through groups? and to see others posting notices and to download attachments to notices?

Posting notices might come when I get round to doing group profiles - if I can figure out how to do it. The same goes for seeing posted notices.

Hey, I just wanted to throw something out there. I run a business, an RP sim and various other groups, but I also work for the government and cannot even check my e-mail from work. Ajaxlife allows me to coordinate stuff from work if there is nothing going on here. You guys RULE!

When Ext made me meet Jack Slockum, it was something else. Then, second life has made me meet you. I thought about this, i searched for it, and there you were. Great work. Awesome.

    Hi,
it seams Ajax life gets more and more Poupuar. I used to see like 10 or 15 Server Sessions. These days 30 are very comon.
But sorry to say that it seams the server Load dosnt keep up with the run. Its become slower each week.

Will you publish your sources one day sp people can set up there own Ajax server? Maybe that will take the load a bit

I’m having an issue compiling my own server on OSX 1.5.4 with MonoDevelop (latest release as of this writing) - I get the following errors:

Line 426, The type or namespace name `Imaging’ does not exist in the namespace `libsecondlife’. Are you missing an assembly reference?(CS0234) Events.cs

    Line 209,214,218 `libsecondlife.Settings’ does not contain a definition for `LOG_LEVEL’(CS0117) Main.cs

Any suggestions / am I missing something basic here? I’m not a “true” programmer - I haxor up things as I need to or write in one of a bunch of languages, but nothing like a project like this. Even if you can’t help because you’re too busy, totally cool - let me take this opportunity again to say THANK YOU for a great piece of software.

I have seen that there are a lot of server drop outs, I was hoping for something which showed if someone is online or offline. While logged in.

I do enjoy access SL with Firefox when my DSL has been sharped.

    Thank you.

    Sorry for the delay, SkipM.

Basically, the issue is that I haven’t updated the zip with the libraries. AjaxLife now requires libsecondlife 0.5, but the library provided is at 0.4.0.1. I will update the provided zip when I have the chance - for now, grabbing it from http://libsecondlife.org should do the job.

Andrea, the source has been published for over a year at http://code.google.com/p/ajaxlife/

Hi Katherine great work as usual I too am having problems with server disconections and once I have seen the message I never know if anyone will see what I type and end up saying “did you get this” so some indication of connection or not would be a real boon

I’ve been having disconnect issues (started using it again yesterday after a break due to no work… new features are good)…. but it seemed to reconnect most of the time

now today, I’m getting ‘connection refused’ from the server.. can’t even load the login page

I am running ajaxlife on google chrome - the new google browser. It works at least as well as Safari, for ajaxlife, but I get the following with both browsers:

The server 66.116.103.152 at Icecast2 Server requires a username and password.

Warning: This server is requesting that your username and password be sent in an insecure manner (basic authentication without a secure connection).

I am running behind an ntl/virgin media transparent proxy server, but this doesn’t interfere with other ajax type things I use (gmail).

Ajax life is awesome, but the server dropouts are annoying. SLeek doesn’t seem to suffer from these, not that I would ever use it in preference to your awesome software.
