    Hey, Kat,

Yep, I time out a lot too since the new release…

BUT, I was able to get in a few times and I was able to successfully create and save a new notecard! This will be an extremely useful feature for me and I’m incredibly happy you’ve included it in this release!

Is there a FAQ about all that is possible to do in AjaxLife? I have a feeling that I’m missing out on some of the features.

I know about the timing out issue – it’s not actually related to the new release, but it is really, really annoying.

There is no such FAQ, although it could probably be built by looking through release notes. I’d write a manual thingy, but I’m no good at such things. :P

if you dont like writing the FAQ.. why not start a page at the SLWIKI and let your users write that for you..

(realized I posted this on an older blog post, so I’ll move it up to this one)

Only one problem encountered so far for me. The initial line in an IM is partially hidden. Here is a screenshot for clarification:

    Using Mac OS X 10.5.4 with Firefox 3 (identified as Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; Intel Mac OS X 10.5; en-US; rv:1.9) Gecko/2008061004 Firefox/3.0).

Safari 3.1.2 does not appear to have this problem.

Keep up the great work, Karen!

I’m afraid I am unable to reproduce this; instant messages appear as expected for me in Firefox 3 (specifically, “Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; Intel Mac OS X 10.5; en-US; rv:1.9) Gecko/2008061004 Firefox/3.0″ – i.e. the same).

Please check that the issue is not caused by an extension/setting or similar. It’s worth noting that there are other display glitches evident in your browser too – for instance, the double height IM line and misplaced buttons.

the really tough part of using ajax at work is when it goes down, i always worry that my IT dept has blocked the site. and of course i cant go ask them…. LOL

Great work. I always admired such projects. I created an integration app (eyeAjaxLife) for eyeOS, the web operating system, allowing you to play second life within the webOS. http://eyeos-apps.org/content/show.php/eyeAjaxLife?content=73933

Is there any plans to support Conference IM’s? (As opposed to group IM’s but the ability to talk to a few people in the same convo?)

It is partially support in ajaxlife, i can get into one and see what the others are typing but i can’t reply and the tab says (hippos) in it.

Another small bug i have run into, well nto really a bug. Is if you open a profile and click the IM button more then once you can open multiple IM tabs to that one person. The problem here arises because some of those tabs then become unresponsive you can’t type in it or see any conversation, nor can you close it.

Conference IMs will be supported when I figure out how and have the time – it doesn’t look like it should be too difficult, given it almost works already (but it gets confused and thinks it’s a group IM, so ends up trying to look up a group that doesn’t exist – thus the “(hippos)” label and inability to reply).

As for the repeatedly opening IMs, I’m testing a fix for that now.

    …and… now!

  22. Lily Says:

One other thing i would like to see is the ability to see offline friends and send offline IMs.

  23. Lily Says:
    July 18th, 2008 at 1:40 am

Stupid thing, maybe a good way of doing of this is splitting the IM’s and friends list. Creating a friends button down the bottom with tabs for Online and Offline friends.

First of all great job on ajaxlife. When I try and log in though the bottom part of the screen all says loading and will not let me log in. Does anyone know if there is something wrong right now?

  26. Katharine Berry Says:
    July 20th, 2008 at 8:44 pm

Amazon S3 is down. This means AjaxLife’s scripts and resources are inaccessible.
