AjaxLife 0.3.3

Release

New release of AjaxLife!

New Features

  • Links in chat and IM are now clickable
    • secondlife:///sim/x/y/z and http://slurl.com/secondlife/sim/x/y/z format links will open the map at the given location instead of following the link.
  • Teleport trail - whenever you teleport, a message giving a link back appears in your chat history (like LL’s client)
  • Chat input scrolling - you can move up and down in the chat and IM input boxes using the up and down arrow keys to look through your previous messages
Bug fixes
  • Fixed issue #19: Estate Wide Messages go to Instant Message of the Sender.
  • Enabled localisation of two inventory labels
Changes
  • Improved IM session ID generation - moved from merging strings to XORing the UUIDs.
    • Backed out the ID coercion hack that prevented multiple tabs - this should stop it
    • Therefore the tabs that won’t stop flashing should be fixed too

Hmmm ajaxlife seems to not be working for me at the moment. It just keeps timing out :(

Sorry about that - the health checker thingy broke (yet again! Arrg!)

It’s up now. And the health checker has been restored.

Cool! Just found this. Still seems to be timing out, however.

Do you plan, in the far future, of adding the ability for any kind of in-game viewing of like the actual Second Life client and some kind of tag or title that floats above your name that tells people that you are on the AjaxLife client?

I’m afraid that this isn’t planned - the former because it’s impractical (although there might be some movement eventually - you can blindly walk into walls!). The latter is, as far as I know, impossible to achieve via client software. I suggest use of a group title and/or hovertext on an attachment.

The ability to set an autoreply to IMs saying something of your choice (a la busy messages) is on the todo list though.

Any idea why I get “Attempting to reconnect to server” so much? I get it allot, and most of the time it never re connects, that’s the only reason I don’t use AjaxLife most of the time, or when I log in it says it.

This basically means “The AjaxLife server just crashed.” Where “crashed” means “ground to a halt due to overuse.”

This is a difficult to fix bug because it’s essentially a performance issue. Alternatively I could just throw more servers at it. (actually there is a system for throwing more servers at it, but I never quite finished it.)

I wonder if its getting too popular. This week I’m just getting time outs and can’t connect at all.

Yeah.. I am timing out about every 5 to 15 minutes…

I just want to state publically that yes, there are times I can’t connect, and reconnecting issues, but on balance, I think ajaxlite is a little gift from heaven. It is so nice being able to come in and collect and respond to IM’s when I’m away from home!
    Thank you Katharine!

I do not know what is happening today… I simply can not log on because it shows a message from SL saying I can not access from my computer… I tried to get help with Lindens and they say there is nothing wrong with my account. I tried other avatar but no success… Can you help me?

Getting a message that SL cannot be accessed from this computer, using AjaxLife. Any ideas why this might be?

  18. Katharine Berry Says:

Arg. They seem to have blocked it again. They periodically do this by mistake.

I am glad it is not a problem with my computer!!! :) Hope we can access soon!!

Hey, Katherine, I am also getting the same message when I try to login to the main grid. However, if I try the Beta grid I get: “Login server did not return a simulator address”. Don’t know if this helps or not.

BTW–huge Ajaxlife fan here! It’s the only way I can access SL at my place of work. Thanks very much for creating and upkeeping it!
