AjaxLife 0.3.2 tomorrow

Release

AjaxLife is going to be updated to version 0.3.2. Here is a pair of screenshots demonstrating the added features:

List of groups I\'m in.

Conversation amongst the members of the AjaxLife test group

Here’s the new feature list:

  • Group list in the IM window
  • Group IMs work correctly - including joining, leaving, starting and conversing.
  • The position of the map beacon is shown on the minimap if applicable
  • You can now change inventory item permissions and descriptions via their properties (right click on the item and pick “Properties” from the menu.)
And a bugfix list:
  • Map textboxes now reflect what the map thinks you want to look at
  • Fixed: Issue 9: God Summon Does Not Work. [Lindens]
  • Fixed: Issue 11: No Group IMs, Group IMs go to Instant Message Tab.
  • Fixed: Issue 16: Hebrew in AjaxLife causes profile windows to have unneeded scroll-bars

Additionally, the following was fixed without fanfare in a minor patch to 0.3.1:

  • Issue 10: No Way to Scroll Down Friends List.
And the following changes were made:
  • The map now shows a waiting indicator when attempting to load data for unknown areas - it no longer shows popup messages.
  • The map will let you select blank areas, although teleporting to the, etc. will not work (obviously). These areas will be highlighted in blue instead of red.
I hope you like the changes/improvements/fixes!

Awesome! Any new strings to translate for the new release? Perhaps for the groups menu, map saying “Please wait…”, etc.?

Wooot! This Update is great Katharine! I love being able to use the Group Chat.
Also, I’ve tested the Summon and it works! Woot. lol Well done, also here’s a pic of testing it http://www.flickr.com/photos/14432452@N05/2461550998/

Your app is a life saver… ummm… a secondlife saver:-) Seriously, any plans for developing the ability to create and edit new notecards? Many times i’ll create a notecard and drag it to an ava’s inventory so my messages get across even though the persons IM limit was capped.

There are, actually. I tried getting that in for 0.3, but I couldn’t figure out how to get the notecard to actually save. There’s a lot of code for it already though.

I’m busy with exams and such for the next five weeks or so, so don’t expect any major improvements until then. :(

On an unrelated note: Yay! Kathar.in is the new blog URL! Much smaller, cooler and more modern in my opinion… :-)
On a (semi) related note: Any plans for iSL, or, iAjaxLife development continuing any time soon?

Katharine what’s up with AjaxLife? I havn’t been able to get on using it for a while now, keeps timing out. I was on it earlier, but now is just not working for me >>.<<

Keep up the great work! :D

Sorry, it seems AjaxLife is currently down. Check back in a few minutes - we should have recovered by then!

Server slowed down and subsequently died due to overuse. I have no time to implement any real fix other than watching it crash and restart for a few weeks, however. :(

@Katharine: :( Reminds me of my faulty router which overheats, crashes and restarts improperly if I use the internet before I wait 10 minutes after powering it on. I guess 8 years of continuous usage is enough…

No, it’s not down. It’s just “inconsistently available.” :p

lol Oki, It’s my Virtual Life Saver. I’m not working on anything InWorld atm, though id love to be! lol But I do prefer to use IM instead of Skype, Phone calls and the cursed SMS. lol And a letter… what’s that? Also, when you get as many Emails as I do, you get tired of emailing >>.<<

Did you see on the Blog? Bay City. I don’t wanna make you sour, as it’s not on TSL lol but here’s an Image. It’s a great build!

Blue Linden promised us we were going to get it copied over when it was done. I’ll hold him to this.

    Where can you download AjaxLife?

  17. Katharine Berry Says:
    May 13th, 2008 at 11:37 am

You can use it at http://ajaxlife.net.

If you actually want to run your own server, you can get the code from http://code.google.com/p/ajaxlife/source and compile it yourself, but I don’t currently have any binaries on offer.

The current AjaxLife that you have set up is the most up to date viewer?

    Yes.
