Filler

Blog

I haven’t actually posted anything in a while. This is because during holidays I take a break from doing anything productive whatsoever.

AjaxLife updates will resume soonish, as soon as I get the backlog of schoolwork out of the way - although development will remain sluggish until mid-June or so, when I’m finished with all my exams and such. But IE6-in-corporate-environment users, I have not forgotten you! Stay tuned for fixes!

Oh, and I have a fancy new computer. Woohoo. Here’s a nice pair of screenshots:

Or, at least, here would be a nice pair of screenshots if WordPress 2.5’s upload facility wasn’t broken with calls to ctype_digit (which doesn’t exist) - what’s wrong with is_numeric (in fact, the patch to rectify the error just replaces all instances of ctype_digit with is_numeric - but I’m far too lazy to do that myself)?

Anyway. Blah blah blah. Exams suck, coursework moreso. Also, this is the first post with tags attached in a while.

Good to have you back Katharine. 2.5 has brought some interesting problems. Can’t wait to see what you have in store for us.

I am really sorry but I seem to be too stupid to find the login. I tried http://ajaxlife.net/login/ and I see your welcome page and all (with the forbidden logo…) but I don’t see a login entry field anywhere. Am I blind or have they shut you down forever?

    TSLE : <!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC “-//IETF//DTD HTML 2.0//EN”> <html><head> <title>403 Forbidden</title> </head><body> <h1>Forbidden</h1> <p>You don’t have permission to access /backend/uptime.php on this server.</p> <p>Additionally, a 403 Forbidden error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.</p> <hr> <address>Apache/2.2.6 (Unix) mod_ssl/2.2.6 OpenSSL/0.9.7a DAV/2 mod_auth_passthrough/2.1 mod_bwlimited/1.4 PHP/5.2.5 Server at tslemporium.com Port 80</address> </body></html>

    That appears on your homepage.

Why, exactly, were you trying to access http://tslemporium.com/backend/uptime.php? It’s not surprising that didn’t work.

Besides, TSLE is closed. It’ll always do that.

    Katharine,

I get the same problem neonina describes above: in both IE6 and latest Firefox, I see the welcome screen with the LL blog entries and currently logged in stats, etc - but no login entry fields. I also see no errors generated for either browser.

I’ve used Ajaxlife off and on during the past year, and I think it’s great - way better than Movable Life, in my opinion.

Keep it up! You’re an amazing young woman.

The login page is http://ajaxlife.net (not http://ajaxlife.net/login as has become popular lately - despite it never working!) - if it’s redirecting you to http://ajaxlife.net/login there’s something odd with the frames. You can work around this by using http://ajaxlife.net/noframes instead.

  13. Donna Says:
    April 19th, 2008 at 7:57 pm

Hey Katharine, http://ajaxlife.net when you go on it wont allow login. It has (Loading) anove the names fields etc. and doesn’t go any further than there.

    Using what browser?

Try again - I just launched a new version aimed at fixing this bug (which I still can’t reproduce). Failing that, use http://ajaxlife.net/noframes, view the source, and tell me what the “xxxx” is in “<!-- Using xxxx encoding. -->”.

Was on FireFox, after a little while it went down saying “we will be back up in a minute” or something like that, now it’s ok.

Anyhoo my PC is playing up too.
    Hope you’re well.

    So it works now?

  17. Donna Says:
    April 19th, 2008 at 9:35 pm

Yeah it’s working for me fine now.

    here’s some issues that i’ve found that bug me;

    (1) On Friends list there is no way to scroll down the list.
    (2) God Summon doesn’t seem to work on AjaxLife.
    (3) No Group IMs, the Group IMs go in an IM of the person who sends the first post and if you have an IM open with that person already, you can’t speak in the group IM as it goes directly to the Resident.

But yes it is working, i’m on it now.

I haven’t noticed problems with Safari 3.1.1. I’ll let you know if there are.
Donna a good place to put issues would be the issue tracker
    :)

  19. Link Manzo Says:
    April 19th, 2008 at 9:42 pm

Bah, seems the issue tracker interface is down for maintenance. Then I guess a blog post would be appropriate ;)

  20. Donna Says:
    April 19th, 2008 at 9:45 pm

I didn’t know there was one LOL
Yeah and testing God Summon on AjaxLife now and nope, isnt working lol.

  21. Donna Says:
    April 19th, 2008 at 9:57 pm

I’ve put some issue on, but keep up the good work Katharine, you’ve been my SL Life saver the past week :P

  22. Katharine Berry Says:
    April 19th, 2008 at 9:59 pm

By the way… why are you being god summoned? :P

  23. Donna Says:
    April 19th, 2008 at 10:03 pm

Because I can? LOL Was testing the bug, and I wanted to be somewhere on a sim, so got a friend to tp me to him. I find it hard to teleport on AjaxLife so I get someone to Summon me, which evidently wont work LOL.

  24. Katharine Berry Says:
    April 19th, 2008 at 10:09 pm

Summons work as long as the summoner isn’t in God Mode. Unless I broke something, that is. :P

  25. Donna Says:
    April 19th, 2008 at 10:11 pm

Nah I think you broke it, was deifinatlly in God Mode, and a few Lindens tried it too. XD LOL

  26. Donna Says:
    April 19th, 2008 at 10:16 pm

Oh as long as they are NOT in God Mode, then it isnt God Summon? LOL
When I say Summon, I mean God Mode/Linden Summon.

  27. Katharine Berry Says:
    April 19th, 2008 at 10:29 pm

No, it’s not a God Summon. It’s just a regular teleport offer. :P

  28. Donna Says:
    April 19th, 2008 at 10:31 pm

Oki LOL I think normal teleport offer works, it’s Linden God Summon that isnt working :) Dunno if you’ll be able to fix that or not though.

Anyhoo am off for a quik bath, I will check back here later :) Be well

  29. Katharine Berry Says:
    April 19th, 2008 at 10:54 pm

Fixed the friend list scrolling, may have fixed the god summons. Can you test that for me? :)

  30. Donna Says:
    April 19th, 2008 at 10:56 pm

Just about to test it now :)

  31. Donna Says:
    April 19th, 2008 at 11:45 pm

Tested it, as I said on the Issue Tracker it stil doesn’t work. Normal teleport offers work Ok.

Any idea what might cause Linden Powers to fail?

  32. Katharine Berry Says:
    April 19th, 2008 at 11:58 pm

I made another change. Try again?

  33. Donna Says:
