End of term, AjaxLife work, server issues

Server

So, the school year is finally finished, as of noon today. Woo! To coincide with this, the server running this site suffered a hardware failure, and everything had to be moved over, resulting in just under three hours of downtime. Meep.

Since SL is down, AjaxLife isn’t running, and server load is much lower. And I can work on chasing some annoying bugs too. Wee. And adding features and other fun stuff.

This post has the most categories per word on this blog. :p

    Hi Katharine

Just gotta say I love the buzz you’ve managed to create! Really looking forward to getting my hands on your code - maybe you’d consider open-sourcing the half-finished project? Then the open source community (read SL geeks with no RL) would be able to share your workload, and you can get on with the important end of term partying!

Jeez ya make me feel old - my daughter’s in your year, and you know what cron is!

Hippyjim, I don’t think that this buzz was created by Katharine. More or less somebody, who told somebody, who blogged it who emailed it and then the next morning, BAM in 500 mail boxes. No offense to you main gridders, but I don’t think that most (decent) teen gridders are trying to do something to become famous. I mean, I know many (who I won’t name) who are stuck-up jerks and do everything just for money. Note, the fact that Katharine doesn’t ask for money, or include ads on her sites/services. She is just a normal teen who knows how to program.

Your term just ended? That’s late. When do you start up again?

And yeah, the buzz was created by… Someone. Probably Hamlet and the SLI people, come to think of it.

Sorry if I annoyed you Zack. I wasn’t implying that you were out for fame Katherine. I only said “buzz” because I hadn’t had chance to try AjaxLife for myself at that point, and it wouldn’t be right to compliment the thing without seeing it!

I’ve read a fair bit of your blog Katharine, and I can relate to the whole depression / school is full of jerks stuff - that’s why I felt I had to drop you a line to say well done.

As for main gridders - we’re not all in it for the money, I do most of my work for free, I just sell enough to pay the rent. I really hope you get a career where you’ve got the room to keep on expanding your skills like this Katharine - good luck!
